Own the path a contract takes from a badly scanned PDF to a screen that tells someone which clause to worry about.

Clause reads contracts for small businesses and tells them what they are about to sign. The review pipeline is the product: extraction, clause segmentation, the model calls, the verification pass that throws away any quote we cannot find in the customer's own text, and the storage behind it.
You would be the fourth engineer. The work is not glamorous and it decides whether the product is trustworthy. A highlight that points at the wrong sentence is worse than no highlight at all.
What you would own
- Make extraction survive real inputs: fax-quality scans, contracts pasted out of email, ninety page master services agreements with exhibits.
- Keep a long agreement inside one request without dropping a clause at a chunk boundary.
- Own the evaluation set. Every prompt change is measured against contracts with known answers before it ships.
- Cut the cost per review without cutting the quality, which mostly means routing better rather than prompting cleverer.
What we are looking for
- Five or more years building backend systems that other people depend on.
- You have worked with language models in production and have opinions about evaluation that came from being burned.
- You write TypeScript comfortably, or you will within a fortnight.
- You care about the difference between a demo and a thing a dental practice relies on at 6pm.
